HADRAMOUT, Oct. 06 (YPA) – The coalition authorities in Wadi Hadramout summoned a number of correspondents from channels affiliated with the Islah Party, due to their coverage of the medical strike that took place in mid-September at Seiyun General Hospital.
The summons included correspondents Abdullah Moamen, Haddad Musaed and Abdul Majeed Bakhrisa, who work for the Yemen Youth, Belqis, and Al-Mahriya channels in Wadi Hadramout.
This action came after the broadcast of television reports detailing the partial strike carried out by medical and health unions.
For its part, the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate, controlled by the Islah party, condemned the summoning of journalists, considering it a clear violation of press freedom and the right of journalists to obtain information, in violation of the Yemeni constitution and the Press and Publications Law.
The syndicate affirmed that these practices constitute an unjustified restriction on journalistic work and contradict the principles of freedom of opinion and expression.
In a related context, the concerned correspondents sent a letter of complaint in which they demanded that the coalition authorities in Hadramout “do them justice and restore their reputation,” and “guarantee the right of the media to perform its professional duty freely and independently,” as they put it.
