Spanish cities rise up in support of Palestine in mass demonstrations

MADRID, Sept. 09 (YPA) – Massive demonstrations in support of Palestine and against the Israeli genocide in Gaza were held in 12 Spanish cities, including the capital, Madrid, on Tuesday.

The protests were called by the non-governmental Network of Solidarity Against the Occupation of Palestine and saw thousands participate to protest the genocide being committed by Israeli occupation in Gaza.

In Madrid, demonstrators gathered in Puerta del Sol square, where they held a banner reading, “Stop the Genocide,” and chanted slogans like, “Free Palestine” and “Israel is a murderer.”

Participants demanded a halt to arms trade with “Israel” and the suspension of all forms of relations with it. They also announced their support for the “Global Resistance” fleet heading to Gaza.

In speeches delivered during the protests in the Spanish cities, speakers highlighted the start of the new academic year in Spain and several European countries while children continue to be killed in Gaza and denied their future, calling on the international community to take urgent action.

In addition to Madrid, demonstrations to show solidarity with Palestine and protest against the genocide took place in the cities of Alicante, Barcelona, Cadiz, Cordoba, Logroño, Murcia, Pamplona, Seville, Valencia, Valladolid, and Zaragoza.
