CARACAS, Sept. 09 (YPA) – Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro asserted on Tuesday that his country possesses the world’s largest oil reserves, which are now even larger thanks to new extraction technologies.
During an interview with RT, Maduro pointed out that these reserves are the cause of recent tensions in the region.
“It’s not about drug trafficking, but they need oil and gas,” he said, while also identifying the real reasons behind the United States’ sharp escalation of the situation in the region.
President Maduro affirmed that his country had the fourth-largest gas reserves, which are scattered throughout the Caribbean and why they sent their ships there. “We have, perhaps, the largest gold reserves in the world. And that’s not all! 30 million hectares of fertile land and water.”
Previously, Venezuela has mobilized 25,000 troops due to US activity off the country’s coast.
