Greece is generally witnessing an escalation in protests against Israeli tourist travel due to their support for Israel or connection to Israeli military operations against the Palestinians, with several moves to prevent Israeli tourists from disembarking from ships or to affect their tours of the Greek islands such as Syros, Rhodes, and Crete.
The protests come as part of a so-called “Day of Rage” and demonstrations by pro-Palestinian organizations in several locations, reaching 30 locations according to the organizers, with calls to boycott Israeli tourists and transform tourist sites into sites of solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
The demonstrations also witnessed an escalation that led to arrests under the anti-racism law and major tensions in the relationship between Greece and Israel, as Israel raised warnings for tourists against visiting Greece.
