London’s SOAS University expels student over Pro-Palestine activism on campus

LONDON, Aug. 10 (YPA) -Haya Adam, a law student and outspoken leader of the SOAS Palestine Society, has been dramatically expelled from London’s SOAS University after a clash over her pro-Palestine activism on campus.

Haya was a prominent figure in a 15-month student sit-in calling on the university to investigate its alleged ties to the Israeli military campaign in Gaza.

Her final expulsion reportedly came after she posted a video that she describes as political commentary.

In the video, she criticized the Students’ Union, specifically a representative named Safia, who she said “failed to uphold her political manifesto.”

This marks the second expulsion at SOAS in recent months related to pro-Palestine activism. In December 2024, student Abel Harvey-Clarke was expelled over a similar incident.

Prior to her expulsion, Adam had faced months of suspension over disciplinary charges relating to her pro-Palestine activism on campus.

These developments come amid growing student protests at SOAS, part of a global movement condemning academic institutions’ complicity in the Israeli assault on Gaza, which has reportedly claimed the lives of over 61,000 Palestinians since October 2023.
