Trump’s new plan to force US cities to end boycotts of “Israel”

WASHINGTON, Aug. 05 (YPA) – The administration of the US President, Donald Trump, announced that US states and cities that boycott Israeli companies will not be eligible for federal disaster preparedness assistance, demonstrating how federal funding is tied to local political positions.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) explained in a statement that states and cities must adhere to “terms and conditions,” which include a formal declaration that they will not sever business ties with Israeli companies as a prerequisite for receiving financial support.

According to financial documents reviewed by Reuters, this condition applies to at least $1.9 billion, used to cover vital expenses such as search and rescue equipment, emergency managers’ salaries, backup power systems, and other disaster management-related expenses.

This decision is a new example of the Trump administration’s use of federal funding to influence local politics in the United States.
