HODEIDA, July 14 (YPA) – About 60 Yemeni fishermen were released on Monday after being held by the Eritrean authorities for several days.
According to fishermen’s accounts, their boats and personal equipment were completely confiscated.
The fishermen arrived at the fish landing center in the Abu Zahr area in Al Khawkhah district of Hodeida province.
They were arrested and taken to detention sites within Eritrean territory while fishing in Yemeni territorial waters, thereafter that they were subjected to beatings, ill-treatment, and harsh detention conditions.
