Iran removes IAEA’s surveillance cameras from nuclear facilities

TEHRAN, July 10 (YPA) -Iran has removed surveillance cameras belonging to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from its nuclear facilities, a senior Iranian lawmaker confirmed on Wednesday.

According to Esmail Kowsari, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, the decision was made in accordance with a law passed by the parliament.

“Based on the parliamentary resolution, all IAEA surveillance cameras have been removed from the country’s nuclear sites,” Kowsari told Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.

He added that IAEA inspectors left Iran voluntarily as a result of the new legislation, which strictly limits cooperation with the agency.

“This decision is a direct consequence of the firm implementation of the law passed by parliament,” he said.

Kowsari criticized IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, accusing him of leaking confidential information.

“Unfortunately, during his recent visits to Iran, Grossi shared sensitive data with the Americans and the Zionist regime,” he said. “Such unprofessional and untrustworthy behavior prompted parliament to suspend cooperation with the agency on its agenda.”

On June 24, Iran’s parliament approved a broad measure to halt collaboration with the IAEA. Under the new policy, IAEA inspectors will only be permitted access to nuclear sites if Iran’s Supreme National Security Council grants approval and safeguards the security of the country’s peaceful nuclear activities.
