MAHRA, July 07 (YPA) – Bloody armed clashes erupted near the Shahn border crossing in Al-Mahra Governorate, which is under the control of pro-Saudi factions in eastern Yemen.
Local sources in the governorate reported that clashes continued for the third consecutive day between militants from the Ra’feet and Za’banot tribes, due to a tribal feud between them dating back to before Saudi forces took control of Al-Mahra in 2017.
The sources confirmed that the armed clashes between the Ra’feet and Za’banot tribes resulted in the main road being cut off to travelers and freight carriers.
In the same context, Mahri activist Abdullah Nasser Ra’feet called on the sheikhs and dignitaries of the Mahra tribes, in a post published on Monday, to urgently intervene to end the confrontations and come up with solutions to stop the bloodshed among the tribesmen.
It is worth noting that a number of illegal extortion and tribute points are spreading, imposed on truck drivers under various pretexts, amid the silence of the pro-coalition authorities.
The Saudi forces based at Al-Ghaydah Airport, along with the American and British forces, have contributed to spreading security chaos in Al-Mahra by buying the loyalty of tribesmen and directing them against tribes opposed to implementing their agendas to tear apart the social fabric, which contributes to the implementation of the project of the oil pipeline extending from their lands through Al-Mahra to the Arabian Sea.
