Saudi-backed authorities detain STC figures in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, July 30 (YPA) – The Saudi-backed authorities in Yemen’s oil-rich Hadramout province briefly detained two figures affiliated with the dissolved Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Mukalla on Thursday.

According to rights sources, Khaled Laradi, head of the STC-affiliated “Martyrs and Wounded Department,” and Awad bin Daghar were arrested and taken to a local detention facility over their role in mobilizing for a protest calling for an end to Saudi influence, deteriorating public services, and worsening living conditions in Hadramout and other Saudi-controlled areas.

The sources said both men were released shortly before the demonstration began after protesters threatened to redirect the march toward local government headquarters unless they were freed.
