US Congresswoman accuses Trump administration of funding genocide in Gaza

WASHINGTON, June 28 (YPA) – US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib strongly criticized the Trump administration’s decision to allocate $30 million to the US-and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.

In a post on the X platform, Tlaib considered this funding to be “funding genocide” in the Gaza Strip.

She explained that the Israeli occupation deliberately killed Palestinians as they tried to obtain food during the month of June.

“And now, the Trump administration has decided to support this deadly trap with $30 million,” Tlaib added. “This is genocide, and we are funding it.” She also slammed the international community’s silence regarding these horrific events.”

This statement came after US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Piggott announced Washington’s approval of new funding for the foundation, praising what he described as its “commendable work.”

In a related development, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) described the US-Israeli aid distribution centers in Gaza as a “killing ground,” after hundreds of starving Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation forces while trying to obtain food.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed that Israeli military commanders had issued orders to open fire on Palestinian crowds to disperse them, even if they posed no threat.

According to the Gaza-based Ministry of Health, the death toll from Palestinian casualties while attempting to obtain aid near distribution centers since May 27 has reached almost 549, with more than 4,066 injured.
