STC forces besiege parade square in Aden

ADEN, June 16 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions surrounded the parade square in Aden city, south of Yemen, in an attempt to prevent any protests in the province.

Human rights sources in the city affirmed that the STC turned the main and side streets leading to the parade grounds in Khor-Maksar city into military barracks, deploying tens of armored vehicles.

The sources added that the deployment came to curb a demonstration under the name of “Million Man March for Justice”, which was called for by the Jaadna tribe to reveal the fate of their kidnapped son, Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ashal who has been disappeared for a year.

The sources stated that the STC used excessive force to prevent thousands of participants from Aden and the southern provinces, as well as the families of the kidnapped and forcibly disappeared, who arrived in the city to demand the disclosure of the fate of the kidnapped.

Thousands of people from Abyan, Lahj, and Dhalea arrived earlier Monday, waving pictures of Ashal and carrying banners demanding the reveal of the abductee’s fate. They also expressed their rejection of the policies of repression and enforced disappearance.
