ADEN, June 16 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions detained on Monday thousands of Abyan tribesmen at the Al-Alam checkpoint, preventing them from reaching the Parade Square in Aden to participate in the “Mass Rally for Justice.”
A human rights source reported that STC members prevented the entry of participants from Abyan province, demanding the disclosure of the fate of Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ashal Al-Jaadani, who has been kidnapped and forcibly disappeared since last year.
The source indicated that large crowds of buses coming from Zinjbar city and other Abyan districts had moved since the morning in response to the call of the Al-Jaadani tribe to the people of the south.
STC factions surrounded the Parade Square with military vehicles to prevent the arrival of demonstrators demanding the release of the kidnapped and forcibly disappeared.
The demonstration coincided with the first anniversary of Lieutenant Colonel Al-Jaadani’s kidnapping, an incident in which fingers point to leaders loyal to the STC who fled to the UAE.
