GAZA, June 11 (YPA) -The spokesperson for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Gaza emphasized that they cannot participate in an aid system that does not align with humanitarian standards.
OCHA stated, “The people of Gaza need everything, and we must ensure aid reaches everyone in need.”
The spokesperson added, “We are facing a severe fuel crisis in Gaza, and unless fuel is provided, vital facilities will shut down.”
On Wednesday, The World Food Programme (WFP) confirmed on Wednesday that “since May 19, we have only been able to bring in limited amounts of life-saving aid into Gaza.”
In its statement, WFP said: “Since aid resumed, we have brought in only 700 trucks, compared to 600–700 trucks that used to enter daily.”
It added: “To avert famine, we need to consistently support the people of Gaza by meeting their basic food needs. The fear of famine in Gaza remains extremely high.”
WFP stressed, “Aid delivery requires safe routes for convoys, faster permit approvals, and the opening of crossings.”
