SANAA, June 03 (YPA) – More than 400 Spanish writers of books for children and young adults issued a joint statement, on Tuesday, condemning the genocide being committed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza.
The list of writers who issued the statement included prominent names such as Ricardo Gómez and Emilio Urberuaga, winner of the Spanish National Literature Award.
The statement said: “We do not want to be, through our silence, a party to the killing of thousands of children and civilians. We condemn the massacre being committed in the Gaza Strip.”
The statement pointed out that the murders of children in Gaza were not committed in trenches or barracks, but in homes, schools, streets, and hospitals.
“There is no justification for killing children, because children are not combatants,” the statement added.
The statement also called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and urged the international community to pressure the occupation.
He added: “Israel repeatedly violates international law by bombing civilian buildings and preventing humanitarian aid from reaching the Gaza Strip. This is not the world we envisioned or wanted. We hope that these atrocities will never happen anywhere on Earth.”
