4 killed, injured in armed clashes erupted due to rebellion in Abyan

ABYAN, June 03 (YPA) – Violent clashes erupted, on Tuesday, due to a rebellion by dozens of pro-UAE Security Belt factions in Abyan Governorate, leaving nearly four dead and wounded.

Local sources explained that dozens of Security Belt members established an armed sector yesterday on the outskirts of Zunjubar city in Hassan district, in protest against the delay in disbursing their financial dues over the past months.

They confirmed that the faction leadership sent an armed campaign to quell the rebellion, which resulted in violent clashes that left two people from Bir al-Sheikh dead, and nearly two others seriously injured and transferred to Aden for treatment.

The sources indicated that armed tensions still loom over the region due to the faction leaders sending military reinforcements, while the members refused to leave the area.
