MADRID, June 03 (YPA) – The Spanish Ministry of Defense has suspended a €285 million deal to purchase an anti-tank missile system from the Zionist Rafael’s Spanish subsidiary.
The decision came after the ministry announced the contract on October 3, 2023. Undersecretary of Defense Amparo Valcarce confirmed that the government seeks to limit any dependence on the Israeli occupation.
Despite previously denying any projects with the Israeli occupation under pressure from civil society organizations and left-wing parties, the government recently acknowledged technological dependence on Israeli companies, prompting the ministry to prepare plans to withdraw.
The deal was to supply the army and navy with Spike LR2 missiles over five years.
The Spanish parliament is preparing to consider a bill for an arms embargo on “Israel” amid growing calls for a more decisive stance due to the ongoing war in Gaza.
