KFAED reveals falsehood of Emirati services in Yemen’s Socotra

SOCOTRA, MAY 29 (YPA) – The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has revealed the commencement of a project to expand the port of the Socotra Archipelago, which has been occupied by the UAE forces since 2017.

This move exposes Abu Dhabi’s destructive policy, which has transformed the island into a joint military base and observation posts with the Israeli entity.

The fund announced that the $50 million project aims to support infrastructure and improve services to relieve the residents of the suffering inflicted by the UAE through its deliberate neglect of all development sectors. Instead, the UAE has focused solely on military expansion and the construction of naval bases and surveillance centers in cooperation with the Zionist entity, particularly on Abd al-Kuri Island.

Since seizing control of the island, the UAE has deliberately pursued a policy of forcibly displacing Socotra’s residents from their villages and seizing vast tracts of land through various companies. It has also destroyed the natural environment by transporting rare plants and marine resources to the UAE, a systematic environmental crime.

The Kuwaiti project’s implementation follows Emirati obstruction and is an extension of previous development projects, including the construction and rehabilitation of schools and hospitals for the local population.

This represents a new scandal, confirming that the UAE has been nothing more than an occupation force serving Israeli agendas, targeting land and people in Yemen and Socotra alike.
