Gaza death toll tops 53,977 amid relentless Israeli attacks

GAZA, May 26 (YPA) – At least 38 more Palestinians have been killed and 169 wounded in relentless Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours, bringing the overall death toll since Oct. 7, 2023, to 53,977, the Gaza-based Health Ministry said on Monday.

The ministry statement added that some 122,970 others have been also injured in the ongoing assault.

“Many people are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads, with rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.

On Oct. 7, 2023, Israeli occupation launched a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip and has continued it for some 19 months since, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.
