Trial International warns against militarization of Gaza aid

WORLD, May 26 (YPA) -Trial International, a NGO fighting impunity for international crimes and supporting victims in their quest for justice, has raised concerns about the potential militarization of aid in the Gaza Strip.

The organization called for measures to ensure there are no risks to Gaza’s population associated with the new aid plan, expressing concern over the use of private security companies to oversee the distribution of aid in the Gaza Strip.

It pointed out that using private security companies to distribute aid in Gaza carries the risk of militarizing humanitarian assistance, emphasizing that the United Nations and its agencies have sufficient expertise to handle aid distribution in the region.

Israeli Occupation Army Radio reported on Sunday that the new aid distribution mechanism in the Gaza Strip will begin operating today, Monday, in cooperation with American private companies.

The radio quoted a military source as saying that four aid distribution centers will be operated — three in Rafah and one in the central part of the Strip — noting that each citizen will receive a food package sufficient for their family for one week.
