Two people killed in American airstrike in Shabwa
SHABWA, May 24 (YPA) – Two people were killed in a suspected US airstrike that targeted a car in the Shamatit area of Ayn District, northwest of Shabwa province, which is under the control of UAE-backed factions in eastern Yemen.
A local source explained that the strike, carried out by a drone on Friday, hit a car carrying two individuals believed to be members of Al-Qaeda, completely charring their bodies.
The source added that the identities of the two dead have not been identified, and the circumstances of the incident remain unclear, with no official comment from the local authorities loyal to the Saudi-led coalition.
The incident coincides with an escalation in US air operations in Shabwa, where several vehicles have been repeatedly targeted by airstrikes, including strikes inside the provincial city of Ataq, over the past few months.
