STC suppresses women’s voices demanding decent life in Aden

ADEN, May 24 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) imposed on Saturday a suffocating siege to prevent hundreds of women, from organizing protests in the Al-Aroud Square in the center of Aden, southern Yemen.

A human rights source said the STC forces, deployed in large numbers in military vehicles in the Khormaksar area, closed off most of the main to the women, preventing them from entering the parade grounds protest deteriorating living and service conditions.

The source confirmed that dozens of their female fighters were deployed to curb demonstrations by thousands of women demanding an end to the coalition’s systematic starvation policy against the city’s residents, who have been denied even the most basic services, such as electricity and water, amid recurring suffering since 2016.

Meanwhile, hundreds of Crater residents Crater city of Aden staged a protest rally at the Al-Ful roundabout, demanding the release of activist Fouad Al-Diqan, who has been kidnapped by the STC factions, in addition to all the young men who were kidnapped for demanding the provision of services and an end to the city’s deteriorating living conditions.

The coalition-controlled Aden is being experienced a living disaster due to economic collapse and a lack of basic services, including electricity and water. The coalition-backed Aden government has failed to halt the deteriorating living conditions and famine ravaging the city and other southern provinces.
