DHALEA, Nov. 04 (YPA) – An unexplained explosion targeted a military mobilization camp belonging to Saudi-backed factions in Dhalea province on Wednesday, leaving approximately 63 recruits dead or wounded in an initial toll.
Local sources reported that the blast struck the “Al-Jumaima” camp, which housed hundreds of recently mobilized personnel. The targeted strike directly hit recruit gatherings, killing 13 and injuring nearly 50 others. The exact nature of the explosion remains unknown, and Sanaa forces have not claimed responsibility for the attack.
Sources suggested the blast may have resulted from a drone strike or Katyusha rocket shelling, assessing the attack as an attempt to escalate confrontations on the Dhalea front to relieve military pressure on Saudi-backed factions in Lahj province’s Ras Al-Arah and Tur Al-Bahah fronts.
Since July, Southern Transitional Council (STC)-aligned commanders in Dhalea and other fronts have refused to participate in battles benefiting Saudi forces against Sanaa forces, asserting the conflict is not theirs while facing repeated drone strikes attributed to Islah party factions.
