AL QUDS, May 18 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation Prime Minister’s Office announced on Sunday that the Mossad had carried out a secret operation with an intelligence agency it described as a “friend,” to bring the official Syrian archive of Israeli spy Eli Cohen.
According to a statement issued by Netanyahu’s office on behalf of the Mossad, the archive was brought from Damascus to the occupation, adding that it included more than 2,500 documents, photos, and personal belongings belonging to the Israeli spy, who was executed in Marjeh Square in Damascus in 1965.
The statement affirmed that the materials, which it described as the “official Syrian archive,” had been kept by Syrian security services since Cohen’s execution in 1965, revealing the “secret operation with an intelligence agency were successfully by a strategic partner,” on the eve of the sixtieth anniversary of his execution.
The Mossad said the materials included Cohen’s handwritten will, recordings of his interrogations, photos, family correspondence, and personal belongings. The documents, according to the statement, also included details of Cohen’s intelligence activities in Syria, including missions to track and document military installations, in addition to a copy of the court ruling that sentenced him to death.
“In Cohen’s notebooks and diaries, which were confiscated by Syrian intelligence from his home after his arrest, instructions were found that he received from Mossad to carry out secret tasks, including one to track a specific target and another to gather intelligence on Syrian military bases in Quneitra,” the Mossad’s statement clarified.
The government of Ahmed al-Sharaa, known by Abu Mohammad al-Julani, has shown unconditional cooperation with the Israeli occupation, most recently assisting in the recovery of the remains of Sergeant First Class Zvika Feldman, who fell in the Battle of Sultan Yacoub in June 1982.
In the same context, al-Sharaa offered cooperation in an alliance with the United States and expressed his willingness to normalize relations with the Israeli occupation during a meeting with US President Donald Trump in Saudi Arabia at the request of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
