Fires return to occupied Palestinian territories near Ashdod

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, May 11 (YPA) – A wave of fires broke out again in the occupied Palestinian territories, as the forests near the city of Ashdod in southern occupied Palestine witnessed, on Sunday, a large fire that required intensive intervention from fire brigades, amid fears that it would spread to residential areas.

The Hebrew website 0404 reported that at least ten firefighting teams, supported by four firefighting aircraft, were working to contain the blaze near the town of Kfar Aviv. Due to the rapid spread of the fire, authorities were forced to evacuate homes located in the first row of the town.

This fire comes just days after a series of major fires swept through the occupied Al-Quds mountains, raising concerns among the Israeli occupation authorities that this phenomenon could worsen, especially with the high temperatures and strong winds in many areas.

Until now, the causes of the fire are not known, while fire and rescue teams continue their diligent efforts to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring residential and agricultural areas.
