Sanaa’s children defeat fear with message of defiance from under bombardment

SANAA, May 07 (YPA) – Yemeni children displayed remarkable courage as they continued to play football in a stadium in the capital, Sanaa, undeterred by Israeli airstrikes on the city that targeted several civilian and military sites in an unprecedented escalation.

A video circulated by activists on social media showed the moment one of the airstrikes struck near the playground, while the children continued playing amidst a cloud of smoke and the explosion, which did not prevent them from enjoying their game despite the proximity of the bombing site.

When one of the children was asked why they ignored the danger, he confidently replied, “I swear they won’t scare us with their raids.” This spontaneous popular expression sums up the magnitude of the challenge and the high morale of these young people.

This scene, which was documented by amateur lenses, reflected a scene different from what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories, where video clips showed a state of panic among the Israeli settlers, as they fled to shelters with the sirens sounding, following the responses of the Palestinian resistance.

The Yemeni scene is a strong symbolic message that confirms the steadfastness of the popular position, even among children, in the face of aggression, and reflects a reality of daily challenge among peoples living under siege and bombing, but who have not lost their courage or will.
