SANAA, April 29 (YPA) – Sanaa-based House of Representatives called on the heads of parliaments and chambers of deputies in a number of countries around the world regarding the crimes that Trump administration’s committing against the Yemeni people.
This came in letters, which were sent to the Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament, the Speaker of the Russian State Duma, the Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, and a number of speakers of parliaments, as well as and Shura Councils in several countries around the world, informed them of the escalation of the US aggression against Yemen since mid-March.
The letters also explained the ongoing targeting of civilians, dignitaries, and civilian facilities as a result of the US aggression against Yemen, particularly in light of the dangerous escalation violating international and humanitarian law being witnessed in the region and the world.
They stressed that the unjustified US aggression launched by the Trump administration against Yemen is primarily directed against civilians, popular markets, residential areas, and civilian objects, posting also crimes against humanity and a flagrant violation of the UN Charter and international and humanitarian conventions, without any legal justification.
“The US aggression comes within the framework of the US administration’s support for the usurping Israeli enemy and an attempt to cover up its heinous crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza,” the parliament’s letters stated, considering the Trump administration’s claims of preventing international navigation in the Red Sea are mere lies and misleading international public opinion, including the American people, to justify America’s heinous crimes against the Yemeni people and their capabilities.”
The parliament’s members reiterated Yemen’s commitment to the security and safety of maritime navigation in Yemeni territorial waters, in accordance with the principles of international law and United Nations regulations, considering Yemeni territorial waters a safe passage for international navigation, with the exception of ships heading to and from occupied Palestinian ports.
They also affirmed that the Yemeni position in support of the Palestinian cause does not constitute a violation of international law, but rather comes within the framework of exercising Yemen’s sovereign right to self-defense and a legitimate response to the genocidal war that the Trump administration-backed Israeli killing machine’s committing in Palestine.
The council’s letters held the Trump administration fully legally, morally, and human responsible for the war crimes and massacres it being committed against the Yemeni people, as well as for compensating for all damages and losses inflicted by the US aggression on civilians, public and private property.
The letters called on regional and international parliaments to fulfill their duties in supporting the Palestinian people by taking action to enforce the International Criminal Court’s rulings against Zionist war criminals and all those involved in these crimes.
They called for unified parliamentary efforts to confront these challenges, attacks, and violations, and for the adoption of strong, unified positions in support of Palestinian rights, demanding an end to the Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al Quds as its capital.
