US dollar, Saudi riyal continue to rise in Aden, Sanaa bank issues circular

SANAA, April 27 (YPA) – Foreign exchange rates in Aden and the southern and eastern regions of Yemen continue to be unstable due to the sharp decline in the local currency.

As for today, Sunday, the exchange rate of the dollar in Aden reached 2,540 Yemeni riyals for sale and 2,515 riyals for purchase, while the price of the Saudi riyal rose to 666 riyals for sale and 661 riyals for purchase.

Since the beginning of April, the dollar has witnessed continuous differences, increasing to about 220 riyals, while the Saudi riyal recorded an increase of more than 55 riyals.

Observers warn of an economic catastrophe in Aden due to the unstable exchange rates, the catastrophic decline of the local currency, and its repercussions on the lives of citizens suffering from poverty and tragic social conditions due to the corruption of the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition.

In Sanaa, exchange rates remained stable thanks to the Central Bank’s measures. According to a central bank circular, the currency selling rates were set as follows:

– Saudi Riyal: 140 Yemeni Riyals.

– US Dollar: 530.50 Yemeni Riyals.

– US Dollar: 3.79 Saudi Riyals.
