Sanaa condemns US airstrikes on pre-Islamic archaeological sites in Yemen

SANAA, April 27 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based General Authority for Antiquities and Museums in strongly condemned on Sunday the US aggressive airstrikes on the Yemeni archaeological sites in Jabal Barash in Sanaa province.

In a statement, the authority pointed out that this aggression, which caused significant damage to these pre-Islamic sites, constituted a crime adding to the series of violations targeting Yemeni heritage and civilization.

The statement called on all international organizations concerned with protecting human heritage to assume their legal and moral responsibilities and condemn this blatant attack targeting humanity’s shared cultural heritage.

On April 9, 2025, the Authority condemned the brutal American attack on the historic Al-Qishla Fortress on Mount Nuqum in Sanaa, adding that the attack had caused significant damage to this ancient archaeological and historical landmark, which is considered one of the most prominent historical and architectural landmarks, bearing national and cultural symbolism.
