HADRAMOUT, April 26 (YPA) – The Saudi authorities at the Al-Wadiah border crossing in Hadramout province, eastern Yemen, destroyed the cargo of 200 trucks loaded with various Yemeni agricultural products.
Informed sources confirmed that the destruction process was carried out randomly, as the Saudi authorities emptied the trucks onto the ground under the pretext of “inspection procedures,” which led to the complete destruction of the crops.
They indicated that Saudi authorities at the crossing are deliberately carrying out these procedures with the aim of destroying them, despite traders’ unwillingness to comply with the legal inspection procedures without harming the produce.
They indicated that trucks loaded with fruits and vegetables are detained for several days and left on the ground under the scorching sun, causing them to spoil before entering the crossing.
The sources described these measures as a “systematic policy” aimed at inflicting heavy losses on Yemeni farmers and export traders, amid questions about the real motives implemented by the Saudi authorities against the agricultural sector in Yemen.
It should be noted that the Saudi authorities at the Al-Wadiah crossing impose similar arbitrary measures on exporters of agricultural products from time to time, the most recent of which was huge losses for onion traders in Hadramout, amid angry reactions as a result of the silence of the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition regarding these measures.
