PARIS, April 10 (YPA) – France’s President Emmanuel Macron announced that Paris may recognize the State of Palestine next June, during a conference on Palestine to be held in New York and co-chaired with Saudi Arabia.
“We must move towards recognition in the coming months,” Macron said in an interview with France 5 broadcast Wednesday. “Our goal is to co-chair this conference with Saudi Arabia in June, where we can achieve mutual recognition (of the State of Palestine) with several parties.”
Last December, on the sidelines of his visit to Saudi Arabia, Macron announced that Paris and Riyadh would jointly chair a conference on the establishment of a Palestinian state in June 2025.
He explained: “We hope to bring in other partners and allies, European and non-European, who are ready to move in this direction, but they are waiting for France.”
