ABYAN, April 08 (YPA) – A number of newly recruited members of the so-called “Security Belt Forces,” affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), blocked on Monday the main road in the Batis area of Abyan province, southern Yemen.
Local sources reported that this action halted the movement of cement trucks belonging to the Al-Wahda factory as part of the members’ protest over delayed payment of their financial dues.
The sources explained that the protesters, who were previously part of the Habil Barq Brigade, affiliated with the Security Belt in Aden, are demanding the payment of their delayed salaries. They confirmed that they are included in the updated lists of the forces, but their allowances have not yet been paid.
These actions come amid escalating complaints from members of the militias in the provinces of Abyan, Shabwa, Lahj, and Aden regarding delayed salaries and the failure to complete their formal recruitment procedures. This reflects a state of discrimination and neglect within the ranks of the UAE-backed militias, exacerbating internal tensions.
