STC head concludes suspicious deals for UAE in Socotra

SOCOTRA, March 19 (YPA) – Head of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and member of the Saudi-formed Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), Aidarous al-Zubaidi, carried out suspicious deals on the Socotra Archipelago, on behalf of Emirati companies, amid widespread societal opposition.

Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Al-Zubaidi visited the Socotra port construction site in Shahab of Archipelago, in preparation for handing over the site to the UAE-owned Eastern Triangle Holding Company, with the goal of disrupting the Kuwaiti grant provided by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

The sources indicated that Al-Zubaidi’s visit to the Socotra Archipelago, where he exploited his position on the PLC to push through a series of deals and facilitations, including the disposal of sovereign and strategic sites for the benefit of Emirati companies.

Among the deals was the handover of the airport, port, and the islands of Abd al-Kuri, Samha, and Darsa to the UAE.

The sources added that the deals included the handover of five mining sites and oil fields in Socotra and Abd al-Kuri, which the UAE has transformed into a joint military base with the Zionist enemy.

The sources pointed out that the UAE recently has established a “Holding Company for Fishing” in Socotra, a clear plunder of the island’s marine resources, amidst the silence of the remaining members of the PLC and the coalition-affiliated Aden government, which has abandoned Yemeni sovereignty while continuing to claim its so-called “legitimacy” before the people of the southern provinces and the international community.
