GAZA, March 10 (YPA) – The Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza warned that the continued blockade and prevention of aid into Gaza is leading to a severe deterioration in the humanitarian situation, including living conditions, health, and the environment.
The threat of famine, food and water insecurity, and the near-total collapse of the healthcare system is looming.
Over nine days of the Israeli occupation’s blockade and closure of crossings, the consequences have become evident, including:
- There is severe shortage of drinking water due to the ban on fuel used to operate wells and desalination plants.
- Food supplies are starting to run out in the markets.
- The supply of tents to the displaced has stopped and there is no ability to establish new shelter camps.
- The suffering has doubled of patients and the wounded who cannot find medicine or medical supplies.
- We will see further deterioration of the survivors and their health.
According to the GMO, Thousands of families have resorted to using firewood for cooking instead of gas, causing health and environmental harm. Waste is piling up as municipalities cannot collect it due to fuel shortages.
The supply of tents for displaced people has stopped, and there is no capacity to establish new shelters. Chronic patients and the wounded are suffering due to a lack of medicine and medical supplies.
The Government Media Office held Israeli occupation leaders, including Prime Minister Netanyahu, responsible for these crimes against humanity.
It called on Arab and Islamic nations to enforce decisions to break the siege on Gaza, open the Rafah crossing, and ensure the entry of essential supplies.
GMO also urged the international community to reject the blockade, hold Israeli criminals accountable, and ensure they face justice.
