ADNE, Oct. 15 (YPA) – Local authorities loyal to Saudi Arabia in the southern Yemeni city of Aden have introduced new restrictions targeting displaced persons arriving from northern regions, according to human rights sources.
Sources reported that the head of the ‘Al-Arish’ police station issued a directive on Wednesday to community committee heads in the district, ordering a ban on renting houses and apartments to displaced individuals originating from northern areas, the western coast, and Taiz governorate, citing ongoing military escalation in those regions.
The memo outlines measures requiring displaced persons from these areas to be gathered in designated locations, sparking concerns over discriminatory practices.
These developments follow recent actions by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions restricting the entry of displaced persons from northern governorates into Aden, amid an escalating campaign by STC-aligned activists and media outlets.
