HADRAMOUT, March 09 (YPA) – The oil-rich governorate of Hadramout, under the control of the Saudi-led coalition, has been experiencing a severe crisis in oil derivatives for the second consecutive week.
This crisis has unfolded amid the absence of the pro-coalition government and its authorities, exacerbating the challenges faced by citizens during the holy month of Ramadan.
Local sources report that the crisis, which began at the start of Ramadan, is human-made and has significantly worsened the suffering of residents in both Wadi and Desert Hadramout.
Gasoline is being sold on the black market across various parts of Hadramout Valley at exorbitant prices, prompting public demands for urgent solutions.
According to the sources, a 20-liter gallon of gasoline on the black market now exceeds 40,000 Yemeni riyals. In contrast, the same gallon is sold for 9,000 riyals in Marib, a city under the control of the Islah party. This stark price disparity highlights the severity of the crisis in Hadramout.
Eyewitnesses have reported long lines of cars at fuel stations as citizens wait to obtain gasoline. However, official stations are operating intermittently, further compounding the difficulties faced by the population.
