GAZA, March 05 (YPA) -The Israeli occupation continues, on Wednesday, for the fourth consecutive day, to close the Karm Abu Salem crossing southeast of the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid and goods into the region.
The closure of the crossing comes after a decision by the head of the occupation government, Benjamin Netanyahu, to halt all goods and supplies to the Gaza Strip starting last Sunday.
The Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza confirmed that the continued closure of the Karm Abu Salem crossing exacerbates the humanitarian situation in the strip.
It described the closure of the crossing as illegal and inhumane measure that exacerbates the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip.
GMO also pointed out that 24,000 patients and injured individuals in the Gaza Strip need treatment abroad, warning that the fuel crisis will lead to the shutdown of hospitals and power outages at shelter centers.
Netanyahu is using the halt of aid as a tool of blackmail and pressure, attempting to evade entering into the second-phase negotiations of the ceasefire agreement, which were supposed to begin on February 3 of last month.
With the ongoing closure of the crossings and the prevention of aid entry, the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is worsening, further increasing the suffering of more than two million Palestinians already living in dire conditions due to the ongoing Israeli genocide that has lasted for 15 months.
