SANAA, Feb. 27 (YPA) – Pro-Palestine protesters wearing traditional keffiyehs and masks, stormed Milbank Hall at Barnard College at Columbia University in New York, home to the dean’s office, and assaulted a staff member, the college said.
“The protesters left Milbank Hall by evening without further incident,” Barnard College President Laura Rosenberry said in a statement.
“But let us be clear their disregard for the safety of our community remains completely unacceptable,” she added, according to the Associated Press.
The college warned that if students do not leave by 9:30 p.m., officials may have to take additional measures necessary to protect our campus.
The Columbia University Students for Justice in Palestine group said on the social media platform X that the protesters dispersed after the administration agreed to meet with them on Thursday.
In a meeting with Rosenberry and Dean Leslie Grinage, the protesters demanded a pardon for all students who had been disciplined for their pro-Palestine actions, and a reversal of the decision to expel two students, according to the group.
