TAIZ, Feb. 24 (YPA) – Armed attack targeted gas tankers by gunmen in Al-Shamayateen district of Taiz governorate, which is under the control of Islah party factions funded by coalition in southern Yemen.
Local sources reported that masked gunmen riding motorcycles blocked the road yesterday evening, in front of gas tankers in Al-Quraisha area and forced the drivers to stop, without giving any reasons.
The sources indicated that the gunmen shot at the tires of one of the tankers after its driver refused to comply with their orders.
The sources reported that the operation of cutting off road and armed attack on gas tankers is the third in the past few weeks, which has exacerbated the gas crisis in the region, especially with the increase in demand as a result of the approaching month of Ramadan.
The areas under the control of the coalition factions in Taiz are suffering from an unprecedented state of security chaos and widespread crimes amid the absence of state authorities since the beginning of 2016.
