SHABWA, Feb. 21 (YPA) – The Balabeed tribes in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen, announced their rejection of armed movements led by the Islah Party loyal to the Saudi-led coalition from Marib province towards their lands, including the Al-Uqla oil field.
This came during an emergency meeting of the tribe’s sheikhs on Thursday, in which they discussed the recent attacks in the Thaniya area adjacent to the Abaida tribes.
The tribe sheikhs confirmed in a statement that decisive steps were taken under the directives of Sheikh Ali bin Omar Bahaismi, who resorted to Sheikh Hussein bin Ali bin Hidhal Al-Jahmi for justice.
Sources reported that the armed movements are led by Mabkhout Al-Arada, brother of the governor of Marib, with the aim of controlling lands belonging to the Balabeed tribe despite a previous tribal ruling on their entitlement. The situation indicates an escalation of tribal tensions.
