BADYA, Feb. 18 (YPA) – The stations of the Yemeni Center for Monitoring and Studying Earthquakes and Volcanoes recorded, during the first hours of Tuesday, a light earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale in southwest of the city of Bayda.
The head of the monitoring center, Eng. Mohammed Hussein Al-Houthi, that the tremor occurred at 1:01 AM, 9 kilometers southwest of the city, and was felt by residents in several neighboring areas of the province.
Al-Houthi mentioned that monitoring stations recorded dozens of light to moderate seismic activities, the strongest of which occurred last Saturday at 7:48 AM, measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale, located 10 kilometers northwest of Bayda city at a depth of 2 kilometers from the Earth’s surface.
He also noted that 19 light tremors followed the previous earthquake, the strongest of which measured 2.6 on the Richter scale at 11:40 PM on the same day.
