UAE-backed STC acknowledges its lack of authority to make decisions in Aden, southern provinces

AMMAN, Feb. 17 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) has admitted that it does not have the authority to make decisions in Aden and the rest of the southern provinces.

This was stated by the head of the political body in the STC, Nasser Al-Khubaji, in an intervention yesterday, Sunday, during the activities of the Third Yemeni International Forum held in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

Al-Khubaji explained that the STC lacks the ability to make decisions and cannot accomplish anything noteworthy.

He also described the performance of the “Presidential Leadership Council” as a complete failure and an inability to carry out its duties, speaking about the state of conflict within the council and the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, which has caused the disruption of various aspects of life. He pointed out that the formation of the Leadership Council came in response to a regional vision without reflecting a real local will.

Al-Khubaji accused the head of the Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, of leaving Aden and focusing on making unilateral decisions related to appointments without consulting or reaching an agreement with the rest of the members.

He also pointed out that the STC bears part of the responsibility for the deterioration of the economic and service conditions in Aden and the rest of the southern regions, acknowledging the decline in its popularity among the popular bases.
