GAZA, Jan. 25 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation forces released 200 Palestinian detainees sentenced to life imprisonment and high rulings to the West Bank, Al-Quds (Jerusalem), Gaza and outside within the second phase of the exchange deal related to the ceasefire with the resistance.
The Prisoners’ Affairs Authority and the Prisoners’ Club confirmed that those released were among those with heavy sentences in the occupation prisons. Three buses carrying the prisoners arrived in Ramallah, where they received a wide public reception.
Among the most prominent of those released are Muhammad Al-Arda and Iyad Jaradat, who carried out the “Freedom Tunnel” operation, along with Raed Al-Saadi, the dean of the Jenin prisoners, who served 36 years, Thabet Al-Mardawi, who is accused of digging a tunnel in Shatta prison, and Hussam Abed, who was sentenced to three life sentences and 55 years.
Simultaneously with the arrival of the buses to the West Bank, the Gaza European Hospital in Khan Yunis received 16 liberated prisoners amid large crowds chanting in support of the resistance.
Also, a number of other Palestinian prisoners deported abroad arrived at the Rafah crossing, and then headed towards the Egyptian lands, where they entered two buses carrying 70 prisoners of life-trials to Egypt after their release.
