Zionist occupation destroyed 70% of roads in Gaza, 350 thousand tons of waste threaten humanitarian disaster

GAZA, Jan. 20 (YPA) – The Gaza City Municipality reported, on Monday, that more than 70% of the roads of Gaza City in the central Gaza Strip were completely destroyed due to the Israeli war since October 7, 2023.

The municipality indicated that the priorities of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between the Israeli enemy and Hamas are to restore life to the city, secure services, and reopen the streets.

The municipality called on relevant international organizations to cooperate and provide the necessary services and tools to achieve this goal.

She said she had submitted a list of needs to international organizations to help and begin the rehabilitation of the city’s streets.

According to the municipality, there are 350,000 tons of waste piled up in the middle of the Gaza Strip, which threatens the spread of epidemics and needs to be removed quickly to ward off the resulting dangers as quickly as possible.

For its part, the government media office in Gaza called for the entry of heavy equipment to remove the rubble, open the roads, and allow the entry of caravans through the Rafah crossing, stressing that priority is given to the entry of trucks through all crossings.

The office expressed its hope to continue enhancing the level of security in the governorates of the Strip.
