Aden Electricity Corporation warns of imminent total power outage in entire city

ADEN, Jan. 09 (YPA) – The Electricity Corporation in the city of Aden, which is under the control of the coalition, announced, on Thursday, that the stock of diesel fuel will soon run out within the next 72 hours.

The corporation confirmed in a statement that the amount of diesel is sufficient to operate the Mansoura station for only 72 hours, and called on the “Leadership and Government Council” affiliated with the coalition to intervene quickly.

She stated that the Mansoura station is the main load center in the city, and is threatened with complete shutdown.

If the station out of service, it will be impossible to even benefit from the solar power station’s generation, which will lead to a complete power outage in Aden and neighboring areas, the corporation added.

The statement explained that delaying the provision of emergency quantities of fuel will lead to a humanitarian and service disaster, the complete cessation of vital services and the disruption of daily life, even with the decrease in demand for electricity in the winter.

The statement indicated that the increase in the hours of outages during the recent period, and the expected total shutdown, is beyond the control of the institution, as a result of the absence of the relevant authorities from providing fuel, despite the repeated official communications directed by the institution without any significant response.
