Sharp deterioration of living conditions to spark volcano sweeping Yemen’s south

ADEN, Jan. 09 (YPA) – The people of Aden and the rest of the coalition-held southern provinces in southern Yemen have been experiencing a growing state of anger and resentment as a result of the sharp deterioration in living conditions and basic services.

This came in an exclusive report revealing the suffering of citizens who has worsened amidst a state of widespread popular discontent in provinces of Aden, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa, and Taiz in light of an unprecedented economic deterioration due to the rise in prices of basic commodities, which will negatively affect the citizen’s life and the struggle to secure his livelihood and the basic needs.

Daily, the electricity crisis has topped the suffering of citizens in these areas, with continuous power outages reaching 13 hours a day, compared to two hours in Aden. As for the rest of the regions, it is almost completely non-existent throughout the day due to the power plants being out of service due to the lack of fuel.

The electricity was not the only thing that made life miserable for the citizens there, but the collapse of the local currency against foreign currencies, which plunged them into a hell of soaring prices for various goods, making the simplest of them beyond the reach of many.

In addition, the coalition-backed Aden government exacerbated the famine, poverty and suffering by suspending the employees’ salaries since last October without any serious intervention to limit this deterioration.

These tragedies have been continued to estrange the lives of citizens since the beginning of 2016, and the state of tension has been expanded to become like a volcano that is close to exploding in the face of the coalition with a massive uprising of the hungry, with the escalation of popular discontent as a result of the absence of effective solutions by the coalition and its government, which is accompanied by resounding corruption scandals looted billions of riyals, and others established commercial companies with a capital approaching 3 billion dollars.

Severely, the current protests have been indicated the popular boiling that will approach the moment of a resounding explosion in the face of the coalition and all parties loyal to it, with the rise of discontent against the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC), which is skilled at marketing illusions to the people of the southern province without taking a decision restoring the confidence of the southern street, which it had lost after entering into a partnership within the government.

Finally, Saudi Arabia and the Emirates, which control the political and economic scene in Aden and the rest of the southern regions, stand on the brink of an imminent explosion of the escalating southern street in Aden and other cities, with the absence of any serious solutions or tackles by the government and the eight members of the “ Presidential Leadership Council, led by Rashad al-Alimi, who share the revenues, while a citizen remains a victim of his silence and inaction about everything that is happening.
