1,117 civilians killed or injured in Saada during 2024 due to Saudi attacks

SAADA, Jan. 07 (YPA) – The police of Saada province, northern Yemen, released on Tuesday new statistics detailing civilian casualties caused by Saudi attacks on border areas throughout 2024.

The statistics revealed that 1,117 civilians were killed or injured in 1,015 violations committed by the Saudi army in the province’s border areas, including continuous targeting of civilians and their property throughout the year, despite ongoing efforts to establish calm and reduce tensions.

According to the statistics, the violations comprised 384 incidents of ground shelling, 598 cases of gunfire by Saudi border guards, and 33 airstrikes.

The Saada police indicated that the Saudi border guards engaged in what they termed “heinous crimes,” including the shooting of Yemeni civilians, African migrants, and individuals of other nationalities along the border. This led to the deaths of 89 people and injuries to 561 others, with wounds ranging from moderate to severe.

Additionally, artillery shelling by the Saudi military resulted in 44 civilian deaths and injuries to 418 others, most of whom suffered grave conditions. Meanwhile, airstrikes conducted by the Saudi-led coalition—including U.S. involvement—claimed one life and left four other civilians injured in border areas.
