Saudi activist hints at trial for pro-coalition leaders of GPC, Islah parties

ADEN, Jan. 03 (YPA) – Tensions and anticipation have grown within political and media circles following remarks by Saudi activist Saad bin Mohammed Al-Omari, which sparked controversy over the future of the war in Yemen and the leadership backing the Saudi-led coalition.

“My Expectations for 2025, By God’s will, the war in Yemen will come to an end, and there will be success in the peace plan, reconciliation, and consensus among all Yemenis. All unresolved issues across Yemen will be addressed through a comprehensive national dialogue, with regional supervision and international guarantees,” he said in a post on social media platform “X” on Wednesday.

He added, “There will be a complete eradication of the parties of disgrace, treason, and conspiracy (the General People’s Congress ( GPC) and the Islah Party), and all of their leaders will face a just trial by the people.”

Al-Omari’s predictions sparked widespread reactions, with some viewing them as a sign of a major political shift within the Saudi regime, indicating a potential rapprochement with the Sana’a government to end the war that Riyadh has led and funded since March 26, 2015.

Others, however, perceive them as hints of Saudi pressure on leaders of the “Presidential Leadership Council,” framed under the predictions for 2025, especially since Al-Omari is considered close to the Saudi intelligence services.
