Citizen killed, another injured in armed tribal attack in Marib

MARIB, Jan. 02 (YPA) – A member of the Damashqa tribe was killed and another was injured in an armed attack in Wadi Abidah district, east of Marib province, which is under the control of the Islah Party factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition.

The attack took place on Tuesday near the Bin Mu’ayli station, where Mohammed Hayyan al-Damashqi was killed and Uday Marzi Hayyan al-Dimashqi was injured, due to a tribal vendetta between the Damashqa and the Al-Mu’ayli tribes.

The ongoing tensions between the two tribes threaten bloody confrontations due to the absence of the state since 2016.

Over the past years, the leaders of the pro-coalition factions have been working to fuel and feed conflicts between the tribes and to finance some of them with money and weapons in order to seize the revenues of oil wealth and harness them for their personal interests.
