Cold wave sweeping several areas of Yemen expected

SANAA, Jan. 01 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning expected on Wednesday a cold wave sweeping several areas of Yemen.

In its weather bulletin, the center affirmed that the cold weather would target the provinces of Bayda, Dhamar, Sanaa, Amran and Saada, Hajjah, Mahweet, Rayma, Ibb, Dhalea, Taiz, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa, the highlands and deserts of Jawf, Marib, Hadramout and Mahra.

It pointed out that the weather in the coastal areas may be partly cloudy to cloudy on the Socotra Archipelago and the southern coasts, with the possibility of scattered rain, while the winds will be moderate on the Socotra Archipelago and the rest of the coasts.

The center warned citizens, especially the elderly, children, patients and workers during the late night and early morning hours, to take the necessary precautions and measures to prevent cold and very cold weather.

It called on the motorists to drive carefully on mountain roads of the decrease in horizontal visibility due to the formation of fog.
